Meet Colleen

Founder & Director

Colleen is deeply committed to helping musicians realize their full potential. With over 15 years of experience teaching private voice and piano lessons, Colleen has taught students of all ages and levels. Colleen has an extensive performing background, including musical theater, choir, solo, duo, and band performances. Vocally she is trained in contemporary, jazz, and classical. Upon completing high school Colleen began teaching private music lessons and continued her education at the University of Massachusetts Lowell Music Program. You can visit ColleenNicholas.com for her upcoming gigs and recent recordings.

As Colleen continued to teach she very quickly realized how much she loved connecting with her students and the joy it brought her when they thrived. After 10 years of teaching private voice and piano lessons, Colleen opened her studio in 2020. She then began creating her teaching method and began to grow the studio.

Since opening, the studio has grown to a team of 5 teachers whom Colleen personally selects, trains, and works with. Colleen is always updating her team on new techniques, methods, and approaches.

When it comes to curriculum, lesson plans are personally individualized to meet the specific needs of each student.

Colleen emphasizes the importance of creating a comfortable environment for students to begin performing. To support this, the studio hosts a large end-of-the-year recital for school-aged students, along with various performance opportunities throughout the year for students of all ages. Past performances have taken place at local nursing homes, in-studio open mics, Arlington Porch Fest, the Burren Backroom Series, and more.

Along with writing lesson plan curriculums, Colleen has also written curriculums for many workshops that the studio offers, including performance, audition, monologue, and a vocal workshop for choral singers. She has also written a successful curriculum and taught an 8-week course called “Everyone Can Sing” for Adult students.

Colleen’s students have had many successes throughout the years. Some of these successes include:
